Athletic Director

Jim Gastner was named Athletic Director at Penn State Brandywine in December of 2006. He graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Economics and earned his M.B.A. from Penn State.  Before transferring to Wake Forest University as an undergraduate, Jim played soccer for Lafayette College. 

Jim grew up in Springfield, Delaware County and has lived with his family in Middletown Township for the past 27 years.

As Athletic Director, Jim oversees all varsity, club, and intramural sports as well as the campus fitness center.

Melissa Algeo has served as the Sports Information Coordinator at Penn State Brandywine since August 2008. Melissa graduated from Unionville high school (2002) and Savannah College of Art & Design (2006) with a BA in graphic design. During her academic career Coach Mel played volleyball at all levels, middle school through college. She has coached at the middle school, high school and collegiate levels and currently is the head coach for the Penn State Brandywine Lions and coaches and co-directs Sparks Volleyball Club.

Laura Patton is a graduate of Penncrest High School (2005) and Ursinus College (2009). She received a BS in Exercise and Sports Science and a minor in coaching. At Ursinus she was a four year starting defender for the women's lacrosse team and received all conference honors as a sophomore. She was also team captain her senior year. Laura runs intramurals and serves as an athletic recruiter at Penn State Brandywine. She also coaches lacrosse at Strath Haven high school.
