Harper reaches 1,000 point milestone

Penn State Brandywine senior guard Shari Harper asked the scorer's table how many points she needed before she checked back into the game against The Apprentice School, Saturday, December 10.

"One more," they said.

Moments later, with about eight and a half minutes to go in the second half, she had the ball. A quick first step got her past the first defender, while a nifty spin move jettisoned another. Harper finished the drive with a tough layup to make her only the fourth woman in Penn State Brandywine history to reach 1,000 points for her collegiate career.

"I didn't know until the buzzer went off. I knew I was close," Harper said.

After the score, play was stopped to recognize Harper's accomplishment. She was given the game ball, which she proudly dribbled over to her mother. "I was so proud. This is her passion, and I'm here to support her," Jaqueline Harper-McIver said after the game. "This is a milestone."
