Brandywine Volleyball Honored at All Sports Banquet
Penn State Brandywine honored its student-athletes at the 25th Annual All Sports Banquet on Sunday, May 5. It was a festive occasion at the Towne House Restaurant in Media, Pa. where 80 athletes and their families joined together to celebrate the 2012-2013 seasons. Penn State Brandywine's athletic family consists of eleven sports: men's soccer; women's volleyball; men's cross country; women's cross country; golf; tennis; men's basketball; women's basketball; ice hockey; baseball. The Athletics' program was well represented at banquet by players and coaches, athletic staff, Penn State Brandywine athletic supporters as well as guest speaker, University Park Athletic Director Dr. Dave Joyner. Dr. Joyner was on hand to help honor the student athletes as over 130 awards were handed out. Student athletes were recognized for their athletic prowess and academic acumen. The highlight of the evening was when Dr. Joyner gave out the All American and National All Academic awards. The Michael Menichini award, the highest Brandywine award for service to athletics, was given to Dr. Matthew Shupp. The James King Award, presented annually to the outstanding student athlete at Penn State Brandywine, was given to volleyball/basketball standout Brandy Flowers. The banquet marks the end of the 2012/2013 seasons and the beginning of the 2013/2014 campaign for the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships.
