Brandywine Men's Basketball lost a tough battle in the final four.

The Penn State Brandywine Men's Basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 13 – 14 (11-7 in the PSUAC).  Brandywine began its season in New York at the Houghton College Turkey Classic losing to Division III Houghton College and perennial NAIA powerhouse, Walsh University.  Freshman guard, Zack DeVito (Springfield High School), was named to the All-Tournament team scoring 21 points against Houghton College and 10 points against Walsh University.  The team's first two wins of the season came against Penn State Greater Allegheny and Penn State Lehigh Valley, respectively.  Sophomore All-American and All PSUAC Team point guard, Rasheed Wilkins (New Media Charter), scored 21 points including the game winning field goal as time expired to edge Greater Allegheny 79-77.  Junior forward, Learon Pray (Chester High School) and sophomore guard Vince Mostardi (Archbishop Carroll High School) added 19 points and 11 points, respectively.  Brandywine finished the Fall semester playing their last games against Division III Rowan University and Berkeley College (NJ) at the annual Heritage's Classic at Rowan University.  Brandywine lost to Rowan in the first round before dropping a double overtime thriller to Berkeley College 88-87 in the consolation game of the classic despite getting significant production from their starting lineup.  Junior forward Mike McGlynn (Rustin High School) scored 21 points on six three pointers and pulled down 10 rebounds against Berkeley.  Rasheed Wilkins scored 19 points while dishing out 7 assists and grabbing 7 rebounds in the game while Zack Devito and junior forward Sean Mulkeen (Springfield High School) chipped in 12 points and 11 points, respectively, and 7 rebounds apiece. 

Brandywine began the second half of the season with a five game win streak with their first win coming against local Division III non-conference opponent, Philadelphia Biblical University.  Following the victory, the team began a four game conference win streak with a 78-69 win at home against a new look Penn State Lehigh Valley team.  Brandywine outscored Lehigh Valley 44-21 in the second half with Rasheed Wilkins leading the way with 31 points.  Forward/Guard Brandon Jacquette (Penncrest High school) added 15 points and who was perfect from the floor, including 3 for 3 from the three point line.  Forward Learon Pray chipped in with 11 points and 8 rebounds.  Rasheed Wilkins earned USCAA Player of the week honors for his performances against Penn State Lehigh Valley and Penn State Schuylkill.

Following a 95-83 win against Penn State New Kensington on the last day of the regular season, Brandywine received their second consecutive PSUAC playoff birth under head coach, Stuart Ross.  Despite two regular season losses to PSUAC South division rival Penn State York, the team advanced to the PSUAC Final Four held in Mont Alto, PA after defeating Penn State York 86-82 on the road.  Brandywine received a well-rounded effort as Rasheed Wilkins (27 points), Learon Pray (12 points), Brandon Jacquette (10 points), and Mike McGlynn (19 points) all scored in double figures.  Zack DeVito also dished out 9 assists.  In the PSUAC quarterfinals, Brandywine was edged out 79-72 by Penn State Dubois, who eventually went on to win the PSUAC championship and advance to the USCAA national tournament. 

Throughout the season, Brandywine received contributions from the entire team hitting big shots at times and also providing needed defense when called upon.  Rounding out the Brandywine rotation is freshman guard Kris Cassidy (Bishop Shanahan High School), freshman guard Stephen Baker (Springfield High School), freshman forward Mike Scholz (Notre Dame Academy), sophomore guard Kevin Bonnes (Ridley High School), and sophomore forward Hany Abbass (Penn Wood High School).  Brandywine finished the season ranked 15th in the nation and hopes to build on its PSUAC Final Four birth next year.  Efforts in the off-season will focus on recruiting, academic monitoring, strength/conditioning, and player development.  Brandywine will be holding open gym time for players and recruits during the spring and summer.  If you are interested in playing intercollegiate basketball at Penn State Brandywine, contact head coach, Stuart Ross at sdr16@psu.edu.
