Brandywine Claims Sixth Place At United East Preview
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine finished in sixth place at the United East Conference Fall Golf Preview at Daupihn Highlands Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
The Lions posted a four-man score of 339, while defending conference champion Penn College earned the team title in 308 strokes.
Matt Cavanaugh (Drexel Hill, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) was the low scorer for the Lions, finishing in a tie for ninth place after posting a round of 78. Cavanaugh's round included 11 pars and a birdie on the par-five fifth hole.
Eric Angle (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) was one shot off Cavanaugh's pace and was one of four golfers to tie for 13th. Angle's day was highlighted by a birdie on the par-four 11th hole.
Eddie Ricottone (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) carded an 18-hole count of 89, while Dominic Guzzo (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) shot 93 and Nicholas Grantland (Media, Pa./Penncrest) totaled 95 strokes. Carl Galantino (Media, Pa./Penncrest) rounded out the Lions in 107 shots.
Gunner Redmond of Penn College shot an even-par round of 72 to win individual medalist honors by two strokes.
Brandywine will compete at Ursinus' 36-hole Bear Invitational beginning with the first round on Friday, October 9.
