Cavanaugh Matches Program Record At Swarthmore Invitational
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine golf team wrapped up the Swarthmore Invitational by completing the final 36 holes of the 54-hole, two-day tournament on Monday. Senior Matt Cavanaugh (Upper Darby, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) matched his own program record-low round by shooting 74 during the third round.
Cavanaugh recorded a pair of birdies during the first seven holes of his final round and carded a three-over-par 74 overall to tie his team record set during the Ursinus Spring Tournament on Apr. 10, 2025. Earlier in the day, Cavanaugh shot 79 during the second round, which also included a pair of birdies, to finish with a three-round count of 239 strokes.
Eric Angle (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) shot 86 in the second round and closed the day by shooting a personal-best mark of 76. He finished the tournament seven shots off Cavanaugh's pace in 246 shots.
Carl Galantino (Media, Pa./Penncrest) shot identical rounds of 94, while Nicholas Grantland (Media, Pa./Penncrest) carded a second-round 99 followed by a third-round 98.
Dickinson claimed the team title and the Devils' Collin McMahon-Shea recorded a three-round total of 210 to go three-under-par and earn the individual title.
Brandywine is back in action on Thursday, April 16 for a tri-match with Delaware Valley and Misericordia beginning at 1:00 PM.
