Bio
Rounding out the softball coaching staff is native Texan Christy Overton. She will be focusing on enhancing the skills of pitchers and catchers. Coach Christy pitched for Texas A&M where she held a national record for average strikeouts per game (7.1), while holding opponents to a .204 batting average and 1.52 ERA. One of her more notable performances during her college career was her recognition to the all-tournament team at the Lady Seminole Invitational, where she went 3-0 and allowed only one earned run in 23.7 innings for a .30 ERA. This led A&M to the tournament title after beating No. 8 Iowa and No. 9 Florida State. Prior to college, Overton participated in the Texas State National basketball tournament where she averaged 22 points in her senior season; however she chose to play college softball after being ranked one of the top 10 pitchers in the nation upon high school graduation.
Coach Christy graduated with an Accounting degree from Texas A&M, then began working in public accounting where she earned her CPA certification. In April 2003, Overton moved to Pennsylvania with her husband and began working for an energy company. For the past ten years she held managerial positions in accounting, risk control, and business operations. She also led the Environmental Counsel, started a mentorship program with 100+ pairings, and participated in a “fun committee” designed to enhance employee morale. She also volunteered while working at the KAU softball league teaching fundamentals to younger pitchers, as well as working with high school athletes to refine their form and variety of pitches.
When her job was relocated, Overton chose to stay in the area and was eager to get back to her first love – sports. She resides in Landenberg, PA with her husband Paul, six year old daughter Adelyn, and four year old son Landen.
