UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State University Athletic Conference announced that Penn State Brandywine freshman Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) has been selected as the first men's soccer player of the week for the 2018 season on Tuesday.

Cairy scored the game-tying goal late in regulation on Saturday as Brandywine earned a 2-2 home draw against Manor College. His shot from near the goal line to the right side of the cage was lofted over the Manor goalkeeper, hit the far left post and bounded into the back of the net, knotting the score 2-2 with 3:32 remaining in regulation.

Cairy, playing in his first collegiate match, tied for the team lead by recording four shots, two of which were on target.

Brandywine (0-0-1) plays at Gwynedd Mercy Tuesday night at 6:00 pm.
