MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine freshman Gavin Birch (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) was named Penn State University Athletic Conference Player of the Week, while classmate Juan Guerrero (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) claimed his second conference goalkeeper of the week selection of the season on Tuesday.

Birch scored in three of the Lions' four matches, all wins, last week. He tallied the first three goals of his career Wednesday against Penn State Scranton. Two days later, he found the back of the net against Christendom and then added a goal and an assist against Penn State Wilkes-Barre Saturday.

Following his big week, Birch is now tied for the team lead with five goals. He ranks third on the Lions with 11 points in 12 matches this fall.

Guerrero recorded three shutout performances last week. He stopped one shot against Scranton and turned away three shots in a 1-0 victory over Wilson College Monday afternoon.

In 10 matches this fall, Guerrero leads all PSUAC goalies with five victories. He has also totaled 36 saves, while recording a 1.73 goals-against average.

Brandywine (8-4-1, 4-0 PSUAC) aims for its sixth-straight win on Wednesday when it hosts Penn State York at 4:00 pm.
