O’Neill And Walleekendeh Named Conference Players Of The Week; Walleekendeh Adds National Honor
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine junior Bill Walleekendeh (Chester, Pa./Chester) was selected as the PSUAC and USCAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week, while sophomore Pat O'Neill (Morton, Pa./Ridley) earned his second conference goalkeeper of the week award on Tuesday.
Walleekendeh registered 15 points during week, netting six goals along with three assists. He totaled 11 of those points in a 10-0 victory over Schuylkill, scoring four times and dishing out a trio of assists.
For the third consecutive season, Walleekendeh leads the Lions in scoring with 12 goals and five assists. He has scored at least one goal in 16 consecutive regular-season games against PSUAC teams dating back to his freshman year.
O'Neill did not allow a goal during 150 minutes in net during a pair of PSUAC wins last week. He posted his second shutout of the season against Mont Alto on Saturday after playing 60 minutes and stopping all three shots he faced at Penn State Schuylkill earlier in the week.
O'Neill extended his scoreless streak against PSUAC competition to 243:47 as he has not surrendered a goal in nearly a calendar month. In 10 starts this season, O'Neill owns three victories and 42 saves.
Brandywine (6-8, 5-1 PSUAC) looks to push its PSUAC winning streak to six games on Saturday when it faces Penn State Wilkes Barre.
