MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams were defeated by identical 7-0 scores by Saint Vincent College on Saturday afternoon during the lone home matches of the fall for both squads.
Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and Emma Kaplan (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) combined to win 6-1 at No. 1 doubles; however, the Bearcats won Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to claim the point. Zahran won two games during her top-flight singles match, while Kaplan claimed one game at No. 2 singles.
On the men's side, Elias Danesh (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) won a second-set tiebreak 7-6 to push his fourth-flight singles match to a deciding third set, but was topped 10-8 by Saint Vincent's J.T. Gockel.
John Stine (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and Raj Mamidala (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) both won three games during their singles bouts, but were knocked off by identical 2-6, 1-6 scores. The duo also teamed to win two games during doubles action.
Brandywine will compete for the third-straight day on Sunday when the Lions travel to Penn State Berks for noon matches.
