ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine softball team suffered a pair of losses on Tuesday as Cedar Crest mounted a seventh-inning rally to win the opener 2-1 and then edged the Lions 8-6 during game two.

Game One: Cedar Crest 2, Penn State Brandywine 1

The Falcons tallied half of their eight hits during the final inning to win game one 2-1. Three-straight singles evened the game at 1-1 and Nicole Santaniello's two-out base hit scored the winning run for the Falcons.

Alexandra Szpindor (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) recorded all of the offense for the Lions, blasting her third home run of the year over the right-center field fence in the fourth inning.

Szpindor was 3-for-3 at the plate, while Rebecca Proctor (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) tallied two hits for the Lions, who collected seven overall.

Cara Fabiano (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) struck out six and went the distance for the eighth time this spring, but took the loss in the circle. She allowed two earned runs on eight hits.

Game Two: Cedar Crest 8, Penn State Brandywine 6

The teams traded the lead back-and-forth, but Cedar Crest came out on top, winning 8-6 during the nightcap.

Szpindor's RBI double started the scoring in the first inning for Brandywine. Two frames later, she scored on a throwing error for the first tally of a three-run frame. Maddie Malfara's (Ardsley, Pa./Abington) single scored Alyssa Sullivan (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and Malfara later came around to cross home, tying the score at 3-3.

The Falcons scored during their first three at-bats, taking a 5-3 edge into the fourth inning before adding two insurance runs in the fifth. The Lions pulled within 7-6 in the sixth as Sullivan recorded an RBI groundout and Malfara plated a run with a sacrifice fly, but Cedar Crest added a run during the bottom of the frame to provide the final margin.

Szpindor recorded her second three-hit game of the day, while Arianna Segich (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) also totaled three hits. Malfara was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Brandywine (15-15, 6-2 PSUAC) hosts Penn State Scranton Wednesday at noon.
