READING, Pa. -- Playing for the third-straight day, the Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams were downed by Penn State Berks on Sunday afternoon. Brandywine's women dropped a 5-2 decision, while the men were blanked 7-0.
Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and Emma Kaplan (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) both won a pair of matches for the Lion women. The duo combined for a 6-1, top-flight doubles victory before both claimed singles matches in straight sets. Zahran cruised to a No. 1 singles triumph by 6-0, 6-0 counts, while Kaplan recorded a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 2.
Maddi Donaldson (Chesapeake, Va./Menchville) rallied to win the second set of her third-flight singles bout 6-4, sending the match to a decisive final frame, but dropped the tiebreaker 10-3.
For the Brandywine men, Julian Grossman (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) and Elias Danesh (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) won three games during their No. 2 doubles match before falling 6-3. John Stine (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and Raj Mamidala (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) claimed two games at No. 1 doubles, but dropped a 6-2 match. Stine also won two games at No. 1 singles.
