COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Younger sister got the best of older sister on Saturday afternoon as Cecily Scavicchio's Ursinus Bears defeated sister Fabiana Scavicchio-Fields' Penn State Brandywine volleyball team in straight sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-20) inside Helfferich Hall.

Despite a late rally, Brandywine could not overcome an early seven-point deficit during the first set, falling in a 1-0 hole after dropping the opening frame 25-20.

Neither team led the second set by more than three points until a 6-2 spurt from the home-standing Bears upped their edge to 19-14. The Lions fought back within two following a pair of Ursinus errors and a kill from Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East), making the score 24-22, but Hannah Merges ended the Lions' hope of a rally by setting down a kill.

The teams were tied 17-17 during the third set before Ursinus rattled off three-straight points. The Lions got back as close as two on a pair of occasions, but the Bears tallied four of the final five points to close out the set and match.

Kelly paired six kills with 12 digs, while Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) paced the offense with seven kills. Rikelle Taylor (Nottingham, Pa./Solanco) added five kills, along with three blocks.

Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) dished out 12 assists and Julia Miles (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) totaled eight helpers.

Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) topped the Lions with 18 digs, while Jade Maloney (Claymont, Del./Brandywine) posted 10 and Miles amassed nine. Napoleon and Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) both collected eight digs.

Brandywine (3-5, 3-0 PSUAC) is right back in action Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM against Penn State Lehigh Valley.
