DOVER, Del. -- Wesley delivered Penn State Brandywine a 3-0 loss (25-13, 25-19, 25-11) in a non-conference volleyball matchup on Wednesday night.
The Wolverines ran out to an 11-3 lead and never let Brandywine's deficit dip below seven points for the remainder of the first set.
During the second set, Brandywine pulled in front 11-10, but Wesley used a 12-2 run to pull away, building a 2-0 lead. In the final frame, the Wolverines netted 11-straight points to push their five-point lead to 23-7 and cruised to the three-set victory.
Jade Maloney (Claymont, Del./Brandywine) led the offense with nine kills, while Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) added four kills and Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) collected 11 assists.
Defensively, Brandywine recorded a season-high 11 blocks, including four each by Stark and Sarafinas. Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) registered a team-best 10 digs, while Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) recorded nine.
Brandywine (4-6, 4-0 PSUAC) heads to Penn State Fayette for PSUAC crossover weekend this Saturday and Sunday. The Lions play four matches over two days beginning Saturday against home-standing Fayette (1:00 PM) and Penn State Mont Alto (2:30 PM).
