Neumann Holds Off Brandywine 74-65

MEDIA, Pa. -- Neumann University held on to defeat Penn State Brandywine 74-65 in an all-Delco, non-conference men's basketball matchup on Tuesday night.

Brandywine opened up a seven-point lead following back-to-back three-pointers from Ja'bri White (Townsend, Del./St. Mark's) and Jack Swider (Conshohocken, Pa./Phil-Mont Christian Academy) less than seven minutes into the game, but Neumann battled back to tie the score with seven consecutive points of its own.

The Knights sank four free throws in a span of 11 seconds to grab a 36-31 edge with 69 seconds remaining in the first half before Jaden Fogg (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville) and Amari Little (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) connected for a pair of buckets over the final 41 seconds of the period to bring Brandywine within one at 36-35 at the break.

The Lions took a three-point lead when Corwin Holland II (Bowie, Md./Rock Creek Christian) buried a triple at the 16:57 mark and extended the margin to five points thanks to Bryan Warren's (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) jumper 1:35 later. The visitors again fought back, outscoring Brandywine 12-2 during the next five minutes to jump back in front.

Neumann extended its lead to as large as seven points on two occasions during the final four minutes. The Lions trimmed the gap to just two with 1:45 to play following two Fogg free throws and another Holland three-pointer, but could get no closer. The Knights knocked down seven-of-eight free throws during the final 90 seconds to secure the victory.

White topped the Lions in scoring with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Fogg knocked down 4-of-6 shots from the field and contributed 13 points. Holland produced 10 points and a team-best nine rebounds. Little added 11 points and five assists, while Warren chipped in eight points, four assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Brandywine (0-3) will travel to Maryland for the first round of the Mustang Invitational on Friday. The Lions play the host, Stevenson University, at 8:00 PM.
