Mushinski Named United East Softball Senior Scholar Athlete Of The Year

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Kaylee Mushinski (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) was named Softball Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year by the United East Conference on Friday.

The award recognizes a senior from each conference-sponsored sport who represents the student-athlete model by performing in competition, in the classroom and around the community. Mushinski is the first Brandywine student-athlete in any sport to receive the honor.

Mushinski completed her four-year playing career this spring as one of the most decorated student-athletes in Brandywine history. She paced the United East with nine home runs and 57 RBI, garnering second team all-conference honors, the third all-league selection of her career. She batted .439 with 58 hits, including a walk-off single to win the UEC Championship during the final at-bat of her career, and scored 45 runs in 41 games. Mushinski also ranked second in the league with 21 extra-base hits and 101 total bases.

Prior to Brandywine joining the United East, Mushinski was the 2024 United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Player of the Year and a two-time conference player of the year. She delivered a walk-off base hit to send Brandywine to its first of two consecutive Small College World Series championships as a freshman in 2023.

During her 164-game career, Mushinski set Brandywine records for RBI (226), doubles (53) and home runs (28). This spring, she became the fourth player in program history to record 200 hits and stands second all-time with 226 career hits. Mushinski is also third all-time in games played (164) and fourth in runs scored (161).

Mushinski graduated from Brandywine with a 3.68 grade-point average and a degree in communications. She was a four-time academic all-conference honoree and Brandywine's first three-time CSC Academic All-District award winner. Mushinski also received three National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association Scholar Athlete awards and became a member of the Chi Sigma Alpha National Student-Athlete Honor Society in 2025.

A team captain, Mushinski was active on campus as a member of Brandywine's Student-Athlete Advisory Committe and a student worker in the athletic department. She helped to coordinate an awareness softball game during D3 Week and volunteered with the softball team to run drills for a youth team.
