Lewandowski Named United East Pitcher of the Week; Mushinski Repeats As Player Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. — Penn State Brandywine swept the United East Conference weekly softball awards as senior April Lewandowski (Atco, N.J./Hammonton) was named Pitcher of the Week and classmate Kaylee Mushinski (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) was selected as the league's player of the week for the second-straight week.

Lewandowski went 3-0 in three starts last week, going the distance in all three appearances. She fired a pair of complete-game shutouts, including the first no-hitter of her career Wednesday at Cedar Crest. Lewandowski totaled 23 strikeouts, while allowing just two runs in 17.0 innings of work.

During her no-hitter against Cedar Crest, Lewandowski was an error away from spinning a perfect game. She matched a career high with 11 strikeouts in 5.0 innings and allowed just two balls to leave the infield.

After fanning six batters in a win at Delaware Valley one day later, Lewandowski nearly tossed a second no-hitter after limiting Lancaster Bible to one knock in a five-inning shutout victory. She recorded six strikeouts, including the 300th of her career. Lewandowski is the only pitcher in program history with 300 career strikeouts.

Mushinski was 11-of-21 at the plate with five extra-base hits, including three home runs and the 200th hit of her careeer, 15 runs batted in and eight runs scored in six games last week.

She recorded a pair of two-hit efforts in a sweep at Cedar Crest, while driving in a combined five runs. Against Delaware Valley, Mushinski recorded three hits in game one and went deep in game two. She closed the week with three hits and six RBI in a sweep of Lancaster Bible.

Mushinski has hit safely in 12-straight games entering Monday's doubleheader with Immaculata and is batting .412 overall this spring. She leads the team with five home runs, while driving in 38 runs and scoring 33 times.

Lewandowski is 10-0 in her last 10 appearances in the circle and owns an 11-2 record this spring. She has struck out 82 batters in 87.1 innings, while pitching to a 3.03 earned run average.

Brandywine plays its final two home doubleheaders of the season on Monday (Immaculata; 2:00 PM) and Tuesday (Valley Forge; 3:00 PM).
