PSUAC Tabs Petrella As Runner Of The Week
MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference announced that Penn State Brandywine sophomore Jennifer Petrella was selected as the league's runner of the week after leading the Lions' women's cross country team at its home invitational on Saturday.
Petrella crossed the finish line in a time of 25:39, placing fifth among varsity runners and 17th overall during the 5K race. She helped the Lions finish second as a team, their second top-two showing of the season.
Petrella posted her top 5K time of the season one week earlier when she led Brandywine to the first invitational championship in program history. She registered a time of 23:45, the sixth-fastest time among the 37 runners, as the Lions topped the five-team field at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational.
Penn State Brandywine is idle this week in preparation for its October 4th trip to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invitational, which annually draws some of the top runners from all collegiate levels around the region.
