Alvarez Repeats As United East Defender Of The Week
MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine freshman goalkeeper Jasmin Alvarez (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) was named Defensive Player of the Week by the United East Conference for the second consecutive week on Monday.
Alvarez posted a pair of shutouts last week, upping her total to three clean sheets this fall. She stopped four shots in a 3-0 victory over Brooklyn College on Wednesday and needed to make six saves to preserve a scoreless draw versus John Jay on Saturday.
Alvarez owns a 3-1-1 record, while playing every minute in net for the Lions this season. She leads all United East Conference goalkeepers in save percentage (.925) and is second in goals against average (.600) and shutouts. Alvarez has yielded only one goal during Brandywine's current four-match unbeaten streak.
Alvarez's .925 save percentage ranks 18th among all NCAA Division III net minders.
Brandywine (3-1-1) hosts Trinity Washington Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
