Brandywine Settles For Senior Day Draw

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine held a 1-0 lead with under 10 minutes remaining, but Valley Forge found the equalizer as the teams played to a 1-1 draw during the Lions' Senior Day on Saturday.

After a scoreless opening half, Brandywine found the back of the net just 6:25 into the second period. Jackson Gamber (Millville, N.J./Millville) sent a corner kick into the box, finding the head of Ethan Faulkner (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina), who deposited the match's first tally.

The Lions had opportunities to add on, but Valley Forge goalkeeper Brandon Thompson stopped six of Brandywine's second-half shots. Brandywine outshot the Patriots by a 27-8 margin.

Valley Forge scored the game-tying goal thanks to a Melvin Maldonado marker during the 82nd minute. The Lions recorded three more shots following the Patriots' goal, but could not go back in front.

Faulkner, Ceasar Ugwuanyi (Folcroft, Pa./Academy Park) and Nick Togias (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) all registered five shots for the Brandywine offense. Braden Warwick (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) made one stop to earn the draw in goal.

Brandywine visits Wilson on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 PM.
