MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine and Penn State Schuylkill played to a 0-0 draw during the Lions' women's soccer home opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Taylor Mims (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) stopped all eight shots she faced in net to record the first shutout of her career. Mims turned aside five shots during the opening half and added three more stops during the second period.
The Lions' top scoring opportunity came during the middle of the first half as a shot off the foot of Jalina Mercado (Upper Chichester, Pa./Chichester) was turned away by Schuylkill net minder Victoria Grimm. Cecilia Ballas (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) also recorded a shot for the Lions.
Brandywine remained unbeaten in its last six matches against Schuylkill, its former conference rival, and is now 15-2-1 in 18 all-time meetings.
Brandywine (0-1-1) travels to the University of Valley Forge on Saturday for a 1:00 PM non-conference tilt.
