Women’s Tennis Knocks Off Division II Cheyney

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's tennis team picked up a convincing 8-1 victory over NCAA Division II Cheyney University on Friday afternoon.

The Lions swept all three doubles matches as Heather Gartside (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) and Laura Masse (Media, Pa./Penncrest) swept their top-flight match 8-0, as did Amanda Bradley (Norwood, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) and Kailin Vollmuth (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) at No. 3 doubles. Katie Corey (Lansdowne, Pa./Agora Cyber Charter) and Alexis Ellison (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) teamed to win their doubles match 8-1.

In singles, Corey, Vollmuth and Masse were all winners by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Markera Tymes (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Elizabeth Sexton (Berwyn, Pa./Westtown School) also claimed victories in straight sets without dropping a game.

Brandywine (3-2) hosts Cairn on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
