Brandywine Earns Senior Day Victory
MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- On the day it honored the team's four seniors, the Penn State Brandywine women's tennis team wrapped up its spring season with a 7-2 victory over Trinity Washington University on Monday afternoon.
Brandywine finished the season with a record of 4-3, including a 3-1 mark during four spring matches against NCAA competition.
Seniors Heather Gartside (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) and Laura Masse (Media, Pa./Penncrest) teamed to win their No. 1 doubles match by an 8-1 score and both claimed singles victories as well. Gartside won her top-flight singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, while Masse claimed her No. 3 singles triumph 6-2, 7-6.
Katie Corey (Lansdowne, Pa./Agora Cyber Charter) and Alexis Ellison (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) helped Brandywine sweep three doubles matches, winning at No. 2 by an 8-6 score.
Senior Amanda Bradley (Norwood, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) was also victorious, claiming No. 5 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
