Brandywine Falls In Final Game Of Home Stand

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team wrapped up its week-long home stand with a defeat at the hands of Ursinus as the Bears claimed a 71-43 victory over the Lions on Saturday afternoon.

Jazmyn Kemp (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) paced the Lions' offense during the first quarter with five points as Brandywine trailed by just six after one period at 15-9; however, the Bears pulled away in the second. Leading 20-14 midway through the stanza, Ursinus closed the quarter on a 22-4 run to lead 42-18 at halftime.

The Bears opened the second half with a 13-2 surge to maintain control of the game.

Trinell Watson (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) paired 11 points with 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, while Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) notched eight points and Kemp added seven. Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) chipped in six points and six rebounds.

Ursinus shot 43 percent from the field and limited Brandywine to 27 percent shooting. Thirty-eight of the Bears' 71 points came in the paint.

Brandywine (1-3) will play its first-ever United East Conference game Tuesday when the Lions travel to Penn State Abington for a 5:00 PM tip-off.
