MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up the fall season against Neumann on Saturday. The Brandywine women claimed their second victory, topping the Knights 4-1, while the Lion men were defeated 7-0.
Sydney Mabry (Washington, D.C./Jackson-Reed) and Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) both posted a pair of match victories for the Brandywine women.
Mabry claimed a 6-0, 6-2 triumph during her No. 3 singles match and teamed with Isabella Dolce (Media, Pa./Penncrest) to win at No. 2 doubles. Zahran won in straight sets by scores of 7-5, 6-4 during her top-flight singles bout and paired with Mari Gvelesiani (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) to win 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
The Knights claimed the doubles point and all six singles matches to post a sweep of the Brandywine men.
Elias Danesh (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) won seven games at No. 4 singles, but fell 5-7, 2-6. During his No. 1 singles match, Jonathan Parsons (Wallingford, Pa./Shipley) pushed the second set to a tie break, but dropped a 7-4 decision during the tiebreaker.
Brandywine will open the spring season on March 21 against Penn State Harrisburg.
