Brandywine Falls In Maryland

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams were defeated by identical 7-0 scores in United East Conference action at St. Mary's of Maryland on Saturday.

Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and Mari Gvelesiani (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) pushed their No. 1 doubles match to a tie break before falling 7-5. Zahran won five games during her top-flight singles match, but dropped her first conference tilt of the season 4-6, 1-6. Hope Priemon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Sydney Mabry (Washington, D.C./Jackson-Reed) both won three games in singles action before dropping straight-set decisions.

For the Brandywine men, Aaron Wilson (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) won two games, while Joe Pretti (Aston, Pa./Salesianum) and Patrick McGuire (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) each won one game during singles action.

Both teams are back at home beginning Wednesday against Penn College (3:00 PM).
