Brandywine Bats Stay Hot In 18-6 Rout

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Less than 24 hours after putting 15 runs and 13 hit on the board, the Penn State Brandywine baseball team put up 18 runs on 16 hits in a 18-6 rout of Lakeland Sunday afternoon at the RussMatt Invitational.

Ryan Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) was 3-for-3 with three hits and three RBI, while Ryan Brown (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) recorded three hits in five at-bats. David Kursman (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken), Jason Hankins (Chichester, Pa./Chichester) and Nate Romberger (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen School) all notched two hits. Kursman and Brody Oyloe (Redmond, Ore./Redmond) both crossed home three times.

Brandywine trailed 4-1 through four innings, but struck for seven runs in the fifth. Kursman delivered a RBI single and an error scored another run before Oyloe gave the Lions the lead with a two-run double. Snyder added a run-scoring base hit before two groundballs tacked on two more runs.

Hankins brought three runs home with his first home run of the season during a four-run sixth inning.

The Lions put the game out of reach by pushing six more runs across in the seventh inning. Snyder doubled in two runs, while Mason Coursey (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) added a two-run single to highlight the frame.

Nick Fratangeli (Willow Street, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) earned the win in relief of Josh Reil (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) Fratangeli recorded one strikeout and allowed three runs on six hits in 3.0 innings, while Reil fanned two and yielded two runs in 2.2 frames.

Brandywine (4-4) has a day off Monday before continuing play at the RussMatt Invitational Tuesday against Cornell (4:30 PM) in Winter Haven.
