Harrisburg Downs Brandywine In Home Finale

MEDIA, Pa. -- Despite outhitting Penn State Harrisburg 11-9, the Penn State Brandywine baseball team dropped a 15-6 decision during its regular-season home finale on Wednesday afternoon.

Harrisburg took advantage of 14 walks and three hit batters issued by Brandywine pitching. The game was scoreless entering the fourth inning, but the visitors needed just two hits to score five times. Harrisburg plated four runs on four hits to build a 9-1 edge in the sixth and pushed a combined six runs across during the seventh and eighth inning despite recording just two knocks.

Brandywine answered each of Harrisburg's scoring frames with runs during the bottom of the inning.

Ryan Brown (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) led off with a double and crossed home via Ivano Romaniello's (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) groundball to get the Lions on the board in the fourth. Two frames later, Brown was hit by a pitch and later scored on Romaniello's base hit.

Back-to-back hits to begin the seventh put two runners in scoring position for Ryan Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), who delivered the Lions' third run with a sacrifice fly. Brown followed by legging out an infield single that plated Daniel Rohlsen (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus).

Two more runs crossed home for Brandywine in the eighth as Rohlsen drove in Luke DeVita (Howell, N.J./Howell) with a base hit and Brown lifted a sacrifice fly to center field.

Brown finished the day with two hits, two runs scored and a pair of RBI, while Rohlsen and Brody Oyloe (Redmond, Ore./Redmond) also recorded two knocks each. JP Tinneny (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) highlighted six Brandywine pitchers by tossing two scoreless innings in relief.

Brandywine (13-14, 4-5 UEC) begins a season-ending, six-game road trip Saturday at Lancaster Bible (12:00 PM).
