Cairn Blanks Brandywine 3-0

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine baseball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Cairn University on Wednesday night.
 
Six Brandywine pitchers limited Cairn to just five hits and none over the final four innings, but the Highlanders pushed two runs across the plate in the in the third inning and tacked on an insurance marker two frames later.
 
The Lions had opportunities to score, putting two runners on base in five innings, including four of the final five frames; however, Brandywine stranded 10 baserunners and was unable to muster a run.
 
JP Tinneny (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), Noah Walker (Bremen, Ga./Bremen), Matt Delacruz (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) and Josh Hess (Panama City, Fla./Arnold) all tossed scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Walker struck out the side in the seventh, while Delacruz fanned two during the eighth inning and Hess recorded one strikeout in the ninth.
 
Ryan Brown (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) and Will Collison (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) paced the offense with two hits each. Brown and Collison both recorded a double and a single, while Ryan Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) singled and stole two bases.
 
Brandywine (5-8) opens conference play Saturday with a doubleheader against Penn State Abington at Westtown School beginning at noon.
