Lewandowski And Mushinski Sweep United East Weekly Honors
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Penn State Brandywine claimed both United East Conference weekly softball awards as April Lewandowski (Atco, N.J./Hammonton) was named Pitcher of the Week and Kaylee Mushinski (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) earned Hitter of the Week honors on Monday.
Lewandowski went 2-0 in a pair of complete-game efforts during two starts last week. She posted a 1.08 earned run average, allowing just two runs in 13.0 innings, while striking out 10.
In Brandywine's season opener, Lewandowski tossed a five-inning shutout, the 11th complete-game shutout of her three-year career. One day later, Lewandowski limited Husson, a team that won two NCAA Tournament games in 2024, to two runs, while striking out four in 8.0 frames as Brandywine knocked off the Eagles 3-2 in extra innings.
Lewandowski upped her career record to 29-4 during 41 appearances in the circle.
Mushinski hit safely in all four games, batting .500 with three extra-base hits in 16 at-bats. She scored at least one run in each contest and registered five runs batted in, including a three-RBI effort in the season opener against North Central.
Mushinski recorded two hits versus North Central and added three knocks and a RBI in a 5-3 win over New England College to help Brandywine sweep its first day of games at The Spring Games. She totaled three hits, three runs and one RBI Sunday in wins over Husson and Curry.
A career .424 hitter, Mushinski owns 131 hits and 135 RBI in 91 career games.
Off to the best start in program history at 4-0, Brandywine will look to continue its winning ways Tuesday against Lake Forest (12:30 PM) and Alfred (2:45 PM) in Clermont, Fla.
