Hurta Receives Second United East Pitcher Of The Week Award

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Isabella Hurta (Colts Neck, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was named United East Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this spring on Monday.

Hurta made two appearances in the circle last week, going 2-0 with a 1.05 earned run average and eight strikeout, helping Brandywine win all six of its games.

On Wednesday against Wilson, Hurta pitched all seven innings, recording her seventh complete game of the year in an 8-1 victory. She limited the Phoenix to one run on three hits, while striking out four. Three days later, Hurta entered with two outs in the bottom of the first inning against Penn State Abington and pitched the final 6.1 frames. She recorded four strikeouts and allowed only one run on four hits as Brandywine overcame a seven-run deficit to win 10-8.

Hurta has recorded a record of 8-3 this spring with one save in 10 starts and 16 appearances overall. She is tied for sixth in the United East in wins, while standing third in ERA (1.70) and 12th in strikeouts (50).

Brandywine (25-7, 11-1 United East) will play its final three regular-season doubleheader this week beginning with a conference twin bill against St. Elizabeth Tuesday at 3:00 PM.
