McElroy Collects United East Player Of The Week Honor

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine freshman Emma McElroy (Mountainside, N.J./Governor Livingston) was named Softball Player of the Week by the United East Conference on Monday.

McElroy extended her hitting streak to 10-straight games by hitting safely in all six contests during a 4-2 week for the Lions. Overall, McElroy hit .636 (14-22) last week with a pair of three-hit efforts and a 4-for-4 performance against Penn College on Sunday. She drove in seven runs, while scoring eight times and stealing four bases.

McElroy had three hits, including her first home run, three runs scored and a trio of RBI in game one of a doubleheader sweep over Rosemont on Tuesday. One day later, she recorded a pair of multi-hit games, totaling five knocks versus Washington College. McElroy went deep for the second time last week as part of a four-hit game in a 7-2 victory over Penn College.

McElroy leads the Lions and ranks second in the United East with 44 hits. She had been held without a hit only twice in 26 games this spring. A .484 hitter, McElroy leads the team with two home runs, while scoring 26 times and driving in 19.

Brandywine (19-7, 7-1 UEC) is back at home Wednesday to host Wilson for a United East doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM.
