Sarpong Selected To All-United East Third Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- Junior Francis Sarpong (Germantown, Md./Northwest) represented Penn State Brandywine on the All-United East Conference men's soccer postseason awards, earning third team all-conference honors on Wednesday.

Sarpong was one of three Lions to appear in all 19 of the team's matches this fall, starting 16 games. He ranked second on the team and tied for 20th in the conference with five goals, two of which came against United East competition.

Sarpong totaled 13 points after adding three assists. He finished the season as Brandywine's second leading scorer, while also standing second in helpers.

Through three seasons at Brandywine, Sarpong has appeared in 60 matches for the Lions. He has recorded 39 total points, recording 13 points during each season, on 13 goals and 13 assists.

Brandywine finished its first season as a member of the United East Conference with a record of 8-8-3. The Lions won their first-ever United East Tournament match, a 2-1 overtime triumph over Notre Dame of Maryland, in October.

Cairn's Jesse Brittain was named United East Offensive Player of the Year, while St. Mary's featured Defensive Player of the Year Jack Nelson, Rookie of the Year Zach Blaum and Coach of the Year Alun Oliver.
