MEDIA, Pa. -- St. Elizabeth scored twice in the span of 40 seconds during the second half to rally for a 3-2 victory over Penn State Brandywine in the United East Conference men's soccer opener for both teams on Saturday evening.
Brandywine had taken a 2-1 edge following Francis Sarpong's (Germantown, Md./Northwest) strike early in the second period. Sarpong took a pass from Ethan Faulkner (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) and drove down the left side before firing a shot into the top right corner of the net at the 48:47 mark.
However, Sebastian Londono struck twice for SEU, netting the equalizer with 26:10 to play in regulation before finding the back of the net for the second time 41 seconds later.
Brandywine had an opportunity to score late, but Ray Kelly's (Middletown, Del./Middletown) header off a corner kick hit the cross bar.
The Eagles scored the match's first goal at the 19:18 mark before Brandywine knotted the count six minutes later. Faulkner headed home a corner kick feed off the foot of Kyle Reuter (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) to make the score 1-1 entering intermission.
Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) stopped seven shots for the Lions, while playing all 90 minutes in goal. Jonathan Ramirez Delgado made one save for SEU.
Brandywine (2-4-3, 0-1 UEC) will have a week off before continuing conference play Saturday at Cairn (7:30 PM).
