BALTIMORE, Md. – The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team ended a three-match road swing on a high note as the Lions edged Notre Dame of Maryland University 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Scoring opportunities for both teams were slim throughout the match as there were just seven combined shots on goal. The Lions had two of the three shots on target during the opening half, but the teams entered intermission deadlocked at 0-0.
After a scoreless 60 minutes, Francis Sarpong (Germantown, Md./Northwest) and Robbie Warren (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) combined on the match's lone goal during the 61st minute. Sarpong found Warren, who registered his second goal of the season.
Brandywine's defense locked down the Gators the rest of the way, yielding just one shot on goal, which was turned away by Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson).
DeBooth and Will Manarpaac (Boerne, Texas/Samuel V. Champion) combined on the shutout in goal for the Lions. DeBooth stopped three shots during the second half and earned the win, while Manarpaac saved the lone shot he faced during the opening period.
Brandywine (2-2-2) begins a three-match home stand on Saturday versus Misericordia (1:00 PM).
