Micah Collins Selected To Lead Brandywine Men’s Soccer Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine has selected Micah Collins as its next head men's soccer coach announce Director of Athletics Bobbi Caprice on Friday.

Collins has coaching experience at the NCAA Division I and III levels, most recently at Michigan State University. From 2018-19, Collins served as an assistant coach for both the Spartans' men's and women's teams, primarily working with the goalkeepers.

Prior to joining the staff at Michigan State, Collins spent 2017-18 as a women's soccer assistant coach at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. He helped the Bruins to one of the most successful seasons in program history as the team won six conference matches and earned the No. 4 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

The owner of a United States Soccer Federation National A-Senior License, United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma and United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma, Collins began his collegiate coaching career at Division III Greenville University in 2015. While at Greenville, Collins earned his Master of Art degree in coaching in 2016.

Collins played five years of Division I college soccer. After beginning his collegiate career at Villanova, he transferred to Penn State, where he was a goalkeeper for the Nittany Lions from 2010-13. An Academic All-Big Ten performer and two-time Big Ten champion, Collins received his bachelor's degree in engineering science and mechanics in 2013.

Since creating The Player Project in 2019, Collins has served as the organization's executive director. As the executive director, Collins manages soccer camps and clinics throughout the Philadelphia area and coaches local youth through individual and small-group trainings, while also running free programs for high-needs areas of Philadelphia. Collins oversees a staff of more than 35 coaches and a board of directors.

In addition, Collins currently serves as a coach developer with the United Soccer Coaches and has mentored over 200 coaches. From 2020-24, Collins worked as a Philadelphia Union Academy goalkeeper coach and was the youth program director in 2020-21.

Brandywine is in the midst of its first year as a provisional member of NCAA Division III. The Lions' men's soccer team reached the quarterfinal round of the United East Tournament during its first season in the league last fall.
