Brandywine’s Home Unbeaten Streak Ends At 41 Matches

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine saw its men's soccer home unbeaten streak end on Wednesday as the Lions were downed by Gettysburg 7-0, ending a streak of 41-straight home matches without a loss.

The Lions' streak dated back to a September 20, 2019 match against Hood College, which Brandywine dropped 1-0. Brandywine had been 38-0-3 on home turf since defeating Penn State Scranton six days later, including a 1-0-2 mark this fall.

The Bullets struck for their first goal just 2:49 into the match and added a second marker to up their lead to 2-0 at halftime. Chase Sempervive scored twice during the first 13 minutes of the second period and Gettysburg tacked on three more scores during the match's final 12 minutes.

Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) made eight saves, four during each period, while playing just over 80 minutes in goal for the Lions.

Francis Sarpong (Germantown, Md./Northwest) recorded Brandywine's lone shot attempt, a header that went wide of the cage late in the first half.

Brandywine (2-3-3) opens United East Conference play Saturday at home against St. Elizabeth at 3:00 PM.
