Brandywine Earns Third-Straight United East Victory

READING, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team won for the third-straight outing, recording a 2-0 United East Conference victory over Penn State Berks on Tuesday night.

With the victory, Brandywine secured a spot in the 12-team United East Conference Tournament that will begin with first-round games on Wednesday, October 30.

Both of Brandywine's goals came off Kyle Reuter's (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) corner kicks during the first half.

Reuter's first corner kick was punched away by Berks' goalkeeper Ethan Brazier, but landed at the foot of Christian Zavala (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett), who rifled home his fifth goal of the fall, putting Brandywine on top just 7:54 into the match.

Just under 10 minutes later, Brandywine doubled its lead as Reuter connected with Ray Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) and Kelly headed in the corner.

Brandywine's defense denied Berks any opportunity to get back in the game as the Lions held the hosts without a shot on goal. The Lions outshot Berks 12-3 and put five shots on target.

Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) went untested in goal to tally his fourth shutout of the fall and fifth victory overall.

Prior to beginning the postseason, Brandywine (6-7-3, 3-4 United East) will close out the regular season Friday afternoon when the Lions host Lancaster Bible at 4:00 PM.
