Zahran Adds Academic All-Area Honor

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine rising senior Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was named to the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Tennis Team recently, adding to her awards haul during the 2025-26 academic year.

Student-athletes are selected to Academic All-Area teams through voting by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Zahran was one of seven women's tennis players to receive the award.

Zahran, who will enter her senior year with a 3.99 grade-point average as a psychology major, also received Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators and was a United East Scholar Athlete in 2025-26. In addition, she was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honor Society.

On the court, Zahran was an All-United East standout for the second-straight season, earning First Team All-Conference laurels as Brandywine's No. 1 singles player. She and teammate Sydney Mabry (Washington, D.C./Jackson-Reed) were also honored as a Second Team All-United East doubles pairing.

Zahran posted a 14-2 singles record during the 2025-26 season, including an 8-1 mark in conference play, dropping just four sets in those 16 singles bouts. She also produced a 12-4 doubles record.
