Lions Defeated By York

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team dropped a 56-39 decision to former conference rival Penn State York on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine was limited to two made field goals during the first quarter as York built an 18-8 lead. The Lions closed within five following back-to-back baskets from Tejanae Ballin (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge-South Dorchester), but the visitors answered with consecutive baskets of their own and brought at 29-20 edge into halftime.

The Lions netted six of the first eight points out of the halftime break to again trim the margin to five points; however, following a York timeout, the visitors reeled off eight-straight points and held a double-figure lead for the remainder of the game.

Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) and Jazmyn Kemp (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) shared the team scoring lead with eight points, while Ballin notched six. Kemp hauled in 15 rebounds and Watson collected eight boards.

Brandywine (0-4) visits Swarthmore for a 7:00 PM game on Tuesday.
