Kemp Named United East Defensive Player Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine sophomore forward Jazmyn Kemp (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) was selected as the United East Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

In two games last week, Kemp totaled 24 rebounds, eight blocked shots and four steals for the Lions.

During 26 minutes of action on Wednesday, Kemp pulled down 16 rebounds, while blocking four shots and collecting three steals in a 63-44 victory over Keystone. Kemp also notched 15 points for her fifth double-double of the season.

Kemp added four more blocked shots one night later against Division II Wilmington University. She also grabbed eight rebounds and one steal, while playing 36 minutes.

Kemp has started all 18 of the Lions' games this winter. She ranks second in the United East in rebounding, averaging 9.9 boards per game. In addition, she is the seventh-leading shot blocker with 18 blocks, while pouring in 6.5 points per outing.

Brandywine visits Wilson on Wednesday for a 7:30 PM game.
