Brandywine Falls On Senior Day

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine nearly overcame a double-figure, first-quarter deficit, but Cedar Crest put the game away in the fourth quarter, defeating the Lions 74-49 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.

Cedar Crest scored the game's first 10 points and led 15-1 six minutes into the contest. Brandywine cut the deficit to 10 through one quarter and trailed by just seven at the half after Raelyn Loper (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) beat the buzzer with a baseline jumper.

Brandywine continued its comeback bid throughout the third period. Analise Sierra (Swoyersville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) sliced the margin to five by knocking down a pair of free throws at the 6:53 mark and two minutes later, the Lions were within two following five quick points from Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown).

The Falcons expanded their lead back to eight points with two minutes to play in the quarter, but two free throws from Loper and three by Kemp during the final 1:37 of the period drew the Lions within 48-45 through 30 minutes.

The teams traded baskets during the first two minutes of the final stanza, but Cedar Crest put the game out of reach, using a 21-0 surge spanning more than six minutes, to claim the victory.

Watson, the team's lone senior, registered team highs with 14 points and six rebounds, while Jazmyn Kemp (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) produced 10 points, four boards and two blocked shots. Loper added eight points and three rebounds.

Brandywine (5-18, 4-7 UEC) visits Galladuet Tuesday at 7:00 PM for its final road tilt of the regular season.
