Brandywine Falls On The Road

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team was defeated 68-43 in a non-conference game at Ursinus on Monday evening.

The Lions got out to a slow start, scoring just three points during the opening quarter, but found their scoring touch during the second period, pouring in 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Brandywine closed a 20-point deficit as low as 13 points following a 9-2 run, capped by Jazmyn Kemp's (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) layup, and trailed 34-21 at the half.

Rayne Manson's (Dayton, Ohio/Dunbar) bucket with 6:12 to go in the third quarter trimmed the margin to 38-27; however, the Bears answered with five-straight points and held a 16-point advantage through 30 minutes. A 10-2 run to begin the fourth stanza helped the hosts secure the victory.

Kemp and Ashley Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) tied for the team lead with 10 points each. Kemp also matched her career high with 18 rebounds, set just two days earlier in a win against Penn State Berks.

Taylor Mims (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) added seven rebounds and three steals, while Abigail Adorno (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Lehman) and Cassidy Tolbert (Austell, Ga./Pebblebrook) both chipped in six points.

Brandywine returns home for a United East Conference matchup with Lancaster Bible on Wednesday beginning at 7:30 PM.
